The walls are high and unattainable.
She roars as I approach the door.
I never knew it would come to this... my life or hers.
The others gather around, waiting for her to pounce.
I see the fear in their eyes, pleading for me to back down.
She is a dumb, stupid animal... but fierce.
The circumstances of how I got into this mess are so fuzzy.
She lured me in with her talons of goodness, just an act, I now know.
Her dark eyes bleed me as they have the others.
Their souls yearn to speak but only their scars stand as warnings, blazing red as I dare her.
“Here Kitty, Kitty.” I say, approaching her golden rage.
She looks away as if to say. “I am above wanting you, I have never wanted you.”
But she is panting... she’s waiting for the kill... waiting to take off my head.
As I stand ready, watching her act, I wonder what she would be without us to rule...
Would she die? Wither? Or find others to imprison?
No, I will not let that happen!
“My fangs are just as long and my claws just as sharp!"
“No, my dear, you are but a child.”
“How little you know about the world you profess to rule.” I growled, “Those that are dealt scorn are all the more ready to fight!”
I leapt into the air & landed on top of her, my paws pinning her to the ground.
When the others saw with what swiftness she was toppled from her throne, their courage built and they too began to tear at her.
She fought all night, but fought in vain, for we wanted to be free.
Later, as we sat around the fire, enjoying our meal, I prayed
for the stupid animals... they know not what they do.
