1.12.04-Dark News:
I wanted to pass on a few pieces of info I’ve found recently about dark theatre.
Dance Of The Vampires is a musical starring the International star Micheal Crawford. He’s the one who played Phantom Of The Opera for so many years with much critical acclaim. I recently happened upon this website thanks to a friend of mine and now I am obsessed! The website features a flash preview, downloadable mp3’s of the songs and much more! Check out this new show and if you find any show dates please let me know!
www.danceofthevampires.com/
There is also a fanlisting for the show here:
carpenoctem.obsess-much.com/
Speaking of vampires at the theatre, The Vampire Lestat musical is scheduled to hit Broadway in 2005. Despite Anne Rice quitting the Vampire Chronicles after her last installment “Blood Canticle”, she is fully behind the musical. Elton John and Bernie Taupin are the creators of the music she calls ‘transcendent’. For more info on Anne read the article here: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3832024/
Or check out her own website www.annerice.com
Another dark theatre note, Murder By Poe is a play traveling the country preformed by The Acting Company. It has very limited theatre dates but looks very interesting. The story takes place in a remote mansion on a dark and stormy night … a traveler arrives seeking shelter and encounters four others who have found their way to this desolate place. As they wait out the storm, each tells how they came to be in this same room. Each of their stories has to do with murder. It combines four of Poe’s stories: The Tell Tale Heart, The Black Cat, The Murders In The Rue Morgue & The Mystery of Marie Roget. For info and dates, visit: www.theactingcompany.org/
If you have any dark info to pass on or that you want me to post on the site, please let me know.-darklives.com mailing list
1.10.04-Let us introduce you to: Claudio Parentela.
Claudio is our first International Artist at darklives.com. He hails from Italy and has been active in the underground scene overseas for some time. He has done work for record labels and bands as well as magazines and 'zines. But enough about his stats. What you want to know is: Why should you go check out his work?
I love his work because it reminds me of some of the sketches I've seen Tim Burton do for his dark movies. They're kind of deranged and surreal like you woke up from a nightmare suddenly, only to find you are trapped inside. I love that feeling don't you? Enjoy!-darklives.com mailing list
12.21.03-Let us introduce you to: Venjamin Jimenez
Venjamin is an excellent artist based out of San Jose, California.
I was so shook by the images in the Delusions section of Venjamin's site, that I actually got goosebumps... a hard thing to do to me! These images are exceptionally well created and set the viewer up for thoughts of hell and beyond. The four selections featured at darklives.com are not to be missed!-darklives.com mailing list
